The Journey of Deva Autotronics: From Vision to Automotive Electronics
The automobile industry has changed dramatically over the past few decades. What was once largely a mechanical machine is now an electronic and connected system — software, sensors, displays, communication networks and intelligent control units all shape how a vehicle behaves on the road.
Nowhere is this shift more visible than in commercial vehicles. Buses, trucks and off-road vehicles are becoming more connected, more safety-focused and increasingly dependent on electronics for everything from driver information and diagnostics to power distribution and assisted driving.
It is within this changing landscape that Deva Autotronics has built its journey.
The History of Deva Autotronics
Deva Autotronics was incorporated in India in 2002 as a joint venture between a French automotive electronics company and DMGFI Group. At the time, automotive electronics was still emerging as a distinct discipline within vehicle engineering — a bet on where the industry was heading rather than where it stood.
That early association with the French partner gave Deva (then Actia) a strong technical foundation. Over the following two decades, the company built deep experience in electronic systems for buses and commercial vehicles, developing solutions shaped specifically by Indian operating conditions.
The journey took another significant turn in 2023. The French partner chose to exit the joint venture and exercised its put option. DMGFI Group acquired the shareholding offered, and the company was re-christened Deva Autotronics Private Limited.
The name changed. The focus did not.
Sushen Mohan Gupta’s vision has driven the company since its incorporation. Throughout Deva’s evolution his steady leadership and focus on spearheading the autotronics revolution in India has been instrumental to Deva’s identity and presence in the country.
